My son found what he thinks may be dermestid (museum beetle) shed skins in his 12-string Laravee case (~20-year old guitar and case). He cleaned them out, so I cannot get a sample unless he gets a recurrence. Dermestids eat dead animal material. Does anyone know if Laravee used animal glues for the guitar or case? Has anyone seen other insects inhabiting an otherwise clean case?

Thanks.

There are several similar beetles that eat wood. Carefully inspect the guitar inside and out for small (2mm) round entry holes. A single entry hole can be the only outward sign of substantial damage.
